Privacy guidelines for OBD Home - your driving companion app

2025/03/10

Overview

OBD Home is a driving companion that communicates with vehicle terminals via Bluetooth and WiFi through smartphones and tablets to provide fault diagnosis and driving assistance. This guide explains how OBD Home collects, uses, and stores your personal information, and what rights you have. The key points are as follows:

  1. What information is collected, stored, and used.
  2. What information is stored locally (on device and app).
  3. Information security.
  4. What permissions the app needs and why.

Information Collection, Storage, and Use

We may collect the following information to help us improve our products and services:

  1. App version number, system type, and firmware version number.
  2. Equipment identification number.
  3. Vehicle year, VIN, manufacturer, and model.

We do not store any information on the vehicle terminal. However, some information is stored locally on the app. The locally stored information includes the following, which can be reset or deleted by users:

  1. Inspection and diagnosis reports: including fault code records, performance test reports, travel analysis records, etc.
  2. Configuration settings.

Information Security

We are committed to protecting user information security and preventing information loss, improper use, unauthorized access, or disclosure.

All information collected is used exclusively for the products and services of Chaochao Technology Development Co., Ltd. and will not be provided to third parties.

We employ a variety of security measures within a reasonable level of security to ensure information protection. For example, we use encryption technology (such as SSL), anonymous processing, and other methods to protect your personal information. We also close certain port numbers that present security risks (such as port 21).

We have established dedicated management systems, processes, and organizational structures to ensure information security. For example, we strictly limit the scope of personnel who can access information, require them to comply with confidentiality obligations, and conduct regular audits.

In the event of a personal information breach or other security incident, we will activate our emergency response plan to prevent the escalation of the incident, and notify you through push notifications and announcements.
